چکیده

We want to examine line-free subsets of projective spaces over GF(2) especially from an intersection-set point of view. In this paper, we describe incidence equations for such sets. For every n~>3, we construct a line-free subset (or cap), X,, of PG(n,2), which meets every hyperplane in at least 2" 3 points. We make use of the incidence equations and other methods to show that, remarkably, up to isomorphism, the set Xn is the unique set having these two properties for n = 3, 4, 5. The cases n = 3,4 are small enough to handle directly. The result for n -5 was in fact established in Fugrre et al. (J. Combin. Designs 2 (5) (1994) 287-299) using a labourious, detailed case by case analysis. One of the motivations for that result was to decide the chromatic number of PG(5,2). We also establish various sporadic results on r-intersection-sets in PG(n,2) when n = 5,6. A M S classification: primary 51 E 15; secondary 05 B 10

General definitions for the union and intersection of ordered fuzzy multisets

Since its original formulation, the theory of fuzzy sets has spawned a number of extensions where the role of membership values in the real unit interval $[0, 1]$ is handed over to more complex mathematical entities. Amongst the many existing extensions, two similar ones, the fuzzy multisets and the hesitant fuzzy sets, rely on collections of several distinct values to represent fuzzy membershi...

Groups With Maximal Irredundant Covers And Minimal Blocking Sets

Let n be a positive integer. Denote by PG(n, q) the n-dimensional projective space over the finite field Fq of order q. A blocking set in PG(n, q) is a set of points that has non-empty intersection with every hyperplane of PG(n, q). A blocking set is called minimal if none of its proper subsets are blocking sets. In this note we prove that if PG(ni, q) contains a minimal blocking set of size ki...

On linear sets on a projective line

Linear sets generalise the concept of subgeometries in a projective space. They have many applications in finite geometry. In this paper we address two problems for linear sets: the equivalence problem and the intersection problem. We consider linear sets as quotient geometries and determine the exact conditions for two linear sets to be equivalent. This is then used to determine in which cases...

Sustainable Energy Planning By A Group Decision Model With Entropy Weighting Method Under Interval-Valued Fuzzy Sets And Possibilistic Statistical Concepts

In this paper, a new interval-valued fuzzy multi-criteria group decision-making model is proposed to evaluate each of the energy plans with sustainable development criteria for proper energy plan selection. The purpose of this study is divided into two parts: first, it is aimed at determining the weights of evaluation criteria for sustainable energy planning and second at rating sustainable ene...

The use of blocking sets in Galois geometries and in related research areas

Blocking sets play a central role in Galois geometries. Besides their intrinsic geometrical importance, the importance of blocking sets also arises from the use of blocking sets for the solution of many other geometrical problems, and problems in related research areas. This article focusses on these applications to motivate researchers to investigate blocking sets, and to motivate researchers ...
